Tulsa punches well above its weight as a retirement destination, combining genuinely affordable rents with a cultural scene that rivals much larger cities. Average 1-bedroom apartments run around $839 per month, well within reach for Social Security recipients. Oklahoma does not tax Social Security income, adding further relief for retirees on fixed incomes.
The city’s arts district, Gathering Place park (rated among the best urban parks in the country), and the nationally recognized Philbrook Museum of Art give retirees a rich quality of life at a surprisingly low price. Tulsa’s medical infrastructure includes Saint Francis Health System and Hillcrest Medical Center, both offering strong senior care programs.
Tulsa also benefits from lower grocery costs and utility bills than national averages. Its warm climate appeals to retirees from colder states, with mild winters and a growing community of active adults who have discovered what longtime locals have known for years: Tulsa offers big-city living on a small-town budget, with Social Security income genuinely capable of covering the basics.

We live in Las Vegas and need a place that includes utilities and cable. Me and my husband make $38,000 a year and now pay $1000 a month just making it. We need to be out of here by January 2027.
I don’t believe you’ll find any place that pays for cable. Some places pay for water but not gas and electric.
Is Mazatlan Mexico a good option???
I’m in Lakeport Ca I can’t recommend it if you rent good luck finding a good honest landlord. Gas is expensive 5.79 a gallon. Not much to do and some people are strange just like most places I guess. I’m trying to get out asap but where? Please advise 🙏.
I can’t even read the article! All I see are a bunch of ads and links that go to more ads. I see Toledo and that’s it. So where’s the other 24?!
