9 Ways to Shop at Costco Without a Membership

8. Tag Along With a Member

The most traditional of all Costco shopping hacks requires nothing more than a social connection. Costco policy permits every cardholder to bring up to two guests into the warehouse with them. If your friends, adult children, or neighbors are planning a trip, simply ask to tag along.

There is a specific etiquette to follow here. The official policy mandates that the actual member must make the purchase at the register. You cannot hand your own credit card to the cashier. To ensure a smooth transaction, bring cash to reimburse your host immediately in the parking lot, or use a mobile payment app like Zelle or Venmo before you even drive away. This ensures you do not become a financial burden to the person doing you a favor.
