In Virginia Beach, you can make up for a higher median list price than in other cities on our list with the 0.35% average local sales tax rate. Seniors make up 12.74% of the population, so we know for a fact there’s something to love about this top retirement destination.

It’s also a very popular tourist destination, so there are certainly a large number of attractions spread across the city. Take the Virginia Museum of Contemporary Art, which regularly changes its exhibitions from artists using various media.

Also, Virginia Beach isn’t ideal just for those of us who like sunbathing. History buffs can enjoy the Military Aviation Museum which boasts the world’s largest collections of World War I and World War II aircrafts.
