Top 20 Affordable Cities for Retirees in 2020

February 7, 2020 · Retirement Life

9. Lexington, Kentucky

Taking full advantage of your retirement savings is easy in Lexington, with its 0% local sales tax. It’s the second-largest city in Kentucky, so seniors will find plenty of entertainment here, from sports fans to more artistic people.

For example, why not pay a visit to one of the two horse-racing tracks, the Keeneland and The Red Mile harness track? Or you could enjoy a lovely day out in one of the over 100 parks spread across the city? We assure you, you won’t have time to explore all the walkways, biking or hiking trails but you can certainly have fun trying.

One of the two popular music festivals is sure to fit your tastes. You’ll get a heavy dose of bluegrass music at the, get this, Festival of the Bluegrass in early July. Alternatively, you could listen to a Broadway medley called “It’s A Grand Night for Singing!” courtesy of the UK Opera Theatre.
