Here’s How Your 401(k) Plan Will Help You in Retirement

October 29, 2020 · Personal finance

Company match

If your employer also offers matching contributions, count yourself lucky once again! Some businesses will add a percentage of your contributions to the plan, meaning that you’ll be getting free money for every dollar you deposit.

Of course, there are limits to how much your employer will match and how. The money won’t be yours the instant it is added, for example. After that vesting period, the money will be yours even if you leave the company and start working somewhere else.

Just make sure you don’t leave your employer before that period, otherwise you’ll lose the contributions.
