25 Most Important Things About Your Social Security

January 6, 2020 · Personal finance

3. You can claim Social Security benefits as early as 62

Sometimes people mix up when you should and when you can claim your benefits. We’re here to dispell some myths. You can access your funds as early as 62 even though you’ve probably heard of a lot of people that wait as long as 70.

But don’t let that fool you. In fact, claiming at 62 is exceedingly popular. Households might have employment issues that force them to do so early. Others might have to support their families or could have health issues that need funding, so those are two other reasons as to why people don’t wait long.

Your Social Security is a very personal thing, so do what’s right for you instead of doing what everyone else is.
