Take advantage of senior discounts

If you can, why not take advantage of senior discounts whenever these are available to you? There are numerous places that offer them, all you have to do is ask. To have access to a wider range of discounts, such as those on rental cars, hotel rooms, and train and bus fares, your first move should be to become a member of the AARP once you’ve reached 50.

You can save up to 30 percent on everyday expenses during retirement at stores and restaurants that provide senior discounts, such as Khol’s or Arby’s. For instance, Amazon Prime provides a discounted membership to people with a Medicaid card while Kohl’s offers a 15% senior discount every Wednesday. Discounts on travel or car rentals are also available to seniors. “Every dollar can really add up,” says Sara Skirboll, a shopping and trends expert at RetailMeNot.
