Most Important Financial Benefits For Retirees Offered By Each State

Maine

– Social Security income and up to $10,000 of retirement income is not subject to state tax

– Residents aged 65 and older benefit from free undergraduate classes for credit or audit at the University of Maine

– 50% discount for public transportation throughout Maine

– $8 hunting and fishing license for residents 70 and older

– Free entrance to state parks for seniors ages 65 and older

Maryland

– Social Security income and most retirement income up to $29,900 is exempt from state tax

– Tuition exemptions at colleges or universities in the Maryland state system for retirees aged 60 and older

– Discounts for Maryland public transit for 65 and older

– Retirees 65 and older pay $5 for consolidated fishing license for inland, tidal, and coastal waters fishing

– Free admission to state parks with a $10 Golden Age pass for residents aged 62 and older

– $10 lifetime state park passes for senior residents aged 62 and older
