Most Important Financial Benefits For Retirees Offered By Each State

North Dakota

– Real estate tax abatement for residents aged 65 and older, income less than $42,000 and assets less than $500,000

– Tuition exemptions at various educational institutions for residents 65 and older

– No fare for rides on Bismarck buses and paratransit for residents aged 60 and older

– $5 fishing license for those 65 and more

– $28 annual entrance pass for vehicles for all state parks for senior citizens aged 65 and older

Ohio

– Social Security benefits are not subject to state income tax; annual tax credit for retirees getting retirement income with adjusted gross income under $100,000

– No tuition tax for no-credit classes at state schools for residents 60 and older

– Discounted rides on buses throughout the state for Medicare cardholders

– Discounted hunting and fishing licenses for residents aged 66 and older; free licenses for citizens born before 1938

– Golden Buckeye discount for camping and lodges for those aged 60 and older

Oklahoma

– Social Security and up to $10,000 of retirement benefits from private pensions are not taxed

– Estate tax is not levied

– Free classes for auditing at Oklahoma state colleges and universities offered to residents aged 65 and older

– discounts for Oklahoma City transit for those 60 and older; same criteria and discounts in Tulsa

– $2 exemption at campsites for residents 62 and older

– $25 lifetime hunting/fishing license for residents 65 and older
