12 Best Countries To Live Perfectly Well on Social Security Alone

June 7, 2021 · Retirement Life

Ecuador

Another place where your Social Security can go far is Ecuador. From its warm, coastal weather to the more temperate climate near the Andes, Ecuador offers a lot of variety to those who enjoy different types of climate.

Apart from the geographical reasons, Ecuador offers middle-income retirees a chance to have a comfortable and even luxurious lifestyle, access to quality housing, world-class healthcare, hip restaurants, and vibrant cultural life.

According to International Living, a home or a condo can be purchased for less than $150,000 or a two-bedroom unit can be rented for around $500 per month. A retiring couple needs around $1,800 per month while a single person can enjoy a comfortable lifestyle for $1,400 per month. Did we mention that the U.S. dollar is the official currency in Ecuador?

I did not see the English speaking country of The Philippines on this list.
I believe that the islands of paradise beat most of the countries on this list, hands down.
