Florida

It may come as no surprise that Florida continues to remain in the top 5 best states to retire. That’s because the Sunshine State offers a lot of perks to its retirees. Apart from the warm, sunny weather all year round, Florida is one of the most tax-friendly states for retirees, with no income tax, which means you get to keep your Social Security benefits all to yourself.

More than that, it is one of the states with the highest percentage of seniors aged 65 and older, which means there are a lot of retirement communities and homes to suit every need and budget.

Some of the biggest benefits of retiring in Florida include:

  • No income tax
  • Lower housing costs
  • World-class beaches like Longboat Beach, Venice Beach and Anna Maria Island
  • Outdoor attractions like the Myakka River State Park
  • Arts and entertainment, including The Barbara B. Mann Performing Arts Hall, Broadway Palm Dinner Theatre and Arcade Theatre
