Does Your Employer Want You to Retire? Here Are 15 Ways to Tell!

March 16, 2020 · Retirement Life

They Try To Make Your Role Redundant

While your employer can’t force you to retire, he or she can make changes to your role that might make you consider it yourself. For example, there have been many cases in which a senior’s role was merged with a different department. In worse cases, companies might even try to make these roles obsolete.

This is because, due to your age, they’re banking on you leaving the company instead of following the new role. In most cases, you’ll be required to learn how to do something else from scratch and employers know that not a lot of older folk are up for it.

If this is happening to you it might be because you’re considered too elderly to fit within that company.
