Early retirement is not possible when you have kids

Having kids might alter your plan of retiring early, but it will not make them impossible. Sure, it might require more planning on your part and more funds, but it can be done.

To successfully achieve your early retirement goal, factor in the expenses for your children in your retirement budget and see what this means for your plans. Will you need to work longer than planned? Maybe. But there are ways to become financially comfortable and safe so that an early retirement with children does not wreak chaos to your financial life.

Let’s say your children attend public school, universities included. Then the amounts you’ll have to spend on their education will not be that high. In terms of food costs, you might be surprised to find out that with some clever, meal planning tips, you won’t have to spend a fortune to feed your family.
