Kitchen and Appliance Safety

The kitchen is the heart of the home, but it also contains the highest concentration of fire and water hazards. Upgrading your kitchen with smart safety devices provides incredible peace of mind.

12. Smart Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Detectors

Standard smoke alarms emit a piercing screech, but they do not tell you what the problem is or where it is located. Smart detectors speak to you in a clear voice, announcing, “Smoke detected in the kitchen.” This gives you vital context so you can navigate away from the danger. Furthermore, these devices send alerts to your smartphone. If you are out running errands and the alarm sounds, you will know immediately and can call the fire department.

13. Automatic Stove Turn-Off Devices

Leaving a burner on is a common mistake that can have devastating consequences. Smart stove monitors attach to your existing electric or gas stove knobs. They use motion sensors to detect if you have left the kitchen while the stove is on. If a certain amount of time passes with no movement detected, the device automatically shuts off the flow of gas or electricity to the stove, neutralizing the fire risk.

14. Automated Leak Detectors

Water leaks under the kitchen sink or near the hot water heater can cause massive property damage and create serious slip hazards. Small, battery-operated smart water sensors can be placed on the floor near appliances. The moment they detect moisture, they sound a local alarm and send a notification to your phone. Catching a leak early prevents the need for expensive, disruptive home repairs.
