30. Retirees Qualify For Additional Tax Breaks as They Age

Taxes are difficult to wrap your head around, but they get easier and easier to deal with as we age. Seniors qualify for additional tax breaks at both the federal and state levels. You can also avoid taxes in your Social Security in 37 states, as mentioned earlier. Retirees also have a higher standard deduction.

But if you’re in perfect health and think you can make it to 100 then the best place to live in New Mexico. Once you reach 100, you can avoid taxes altogether, but only if nobody else claims you as their dependent.
