Hawaii

Though 20.1% of seniors are still working in Hawaii (56,000), the state seems to be doing considerably well in other areas of interest for this age group. For example, the obesity rate here is fairly low, and there are an abundant number of nursing homes reviewed at 4 and 5 stars, not to mention a low early death rate.
That being said, 9.3% of seniors still live in poverty, and 9.6% worry about where their next meals are going to come from.

Finding or maintaining work seems to be a problem for 64.3% of Idaho’s senior residents who are able-bodied. Of the retirement-aged population, 17.3% are still cashing in paychecks (48,000).
The numbers for those who live in poverty and those who struggle with food insecurity are fairly similar, with the former coming up to 8.1% and the latter being around 8.5%.

Illinois

There are 378,000 senior workers in Illinois (19.5% of adults 65+). But though the poverty and food insecurity rates are high, 8,6% and 13,1% respectively, this state seems to be ranking well when it comes to the overall mental health among its senior population.
It’s also good to keep in mind that only 67.1% of elderly in in Illinios are able-bodied.

In Indiana, 197,000 people over the age of 65 are still working. In fact, 19% of seniors are still in the workforce.
But the concerning numbers don’t end there. Only 64.1% of boomers are able-bodied, which could be why 15.4% struggle with their next meals, while the poverty rate is at 7.7%

If you’re wondering how many seniors could potentially still work in this state, worry no longer- that number is 69.8%.
