Colorado

In Colorado, 24% of seniors are still in the workforce. That means that around 193,000 elders are working. It’s also important to note that 79% are physically active, and 67.7% are able-bodied, which might give an indication as to why a quarter of retirement-aged folk haven’t given up their jobs yet.
Another factor could be the increase in poverty from 7% to 7.8%. While it may not seem like much, any increase in poverty figures is troubling.

The number of workers over the age of 65 in Connecticut has reached 138,000, meaning that 23.1% of seniors are still working.
When it comes to poverty, 7.1% of seniors are affected by it, with 12.3% that don’t know where their next meal is coming from. However, reports also show that 70.4% of seniors are also able-bodied, meaning that they could hold down jobs for longer.

Delaware

While comparatively, Delaware doesn’t have too many seniors still working (29,000), the percentages show a very different story. That’s because 15.8% of people over the age of 65 are still working.
Within the same age group, poverty is up to 8.5% while 11.2% worry about their next meals. That being said, Delaware is also known for having the highest percentage of able-bodied seniors in the country, an outstanding 71.2%.

Florida

You might be thinking that Florida is a great place for retirees, what with the absence of income tax. But the numbers say differently, especially for those who already live here.
17.2% of seniors still work in Florida. More specifically, here are over 744,000 seniors over the age of 65 still in the workforce. You should also be aware of the 10.2% poverty rate, though things seem to be turning around. That’s because food insecurity has decreased by 32%, landing at 11.3% among seniors.

When it comes to food insecurity, 18% of seniors experience it on a daily basis. What’s more, only as little as 34.9% of older people are considered physically active.
