There are currently 101,294 veterans living there, so it’s easy to understand why it’s such a great destination for retirees. Also, the Department of Defense has its largest medical center in San Antonio Military Medical Center, if you’re considering a place where you might need care.
  • San Diego, CA – Compared to Minneapolis, San Diego has a comfortable climate and beautiful white sand beaches that are eye-candy to any retiree who’s considering moving here. Also, San Diego is a major military city, as it is the home of 89,257 veterans, but also 31,554 people who are on active duty.
  • Seattle, WA – If you’re looking to live in a city where there’s no personal income tax, you’ll love living in Washington. That’s why many military retirees come here. To be more specific, 30,861 veterans are currently living in Seattle. There are 11 VA health facilities, and Seattle is constantly ranking as a top location for job outlook and overall quality of life.
  • Tampa, FL – The Sunshine State is a retirement haven to anybody, anyway, because here you can enjoy the warm weather, beautiful beaches, lush golf courses and…NO STATE INCOME TAX! Even more, Florida is considered by many as the best state for military retirees. And in Tampa, you’ll find life extremely enjoyable. There’s no tax on military pension, and there are 19 VA facilities within 50 miles.
  • Virginia Beach, VA – Virginia Beach has extremely low crime rates, amazing schools, large availability of jobs, and a beautiful coastline.
