13. Older Americans may experience an uptick in mental health issues

The forced self-isolation, worrying about your health, those around you, and the economy could undoubtedly affect your mental health.

Add that to the fact that seniors in retirement are 40% more likely to struggle with depression, according to the Institute of Economic Affairs, so if you’re having a particularly hard time during the Coronavirus Pandemic, rest assured that you’re not alone and that there are services you can use.

Now is a good time to check out the National Council on Aging’s website and look for resources that can help your mental health in these troubling times. Coming to terms with the state of the world right now might be difficult, but you needn’t have to go through it alone.
