5. You’ll Offer Bigger Survivor Benefits to Your Spouse

Thinking about passing away before your spouse might be difficult, but taking this into consideration when you claim for benefits could make sure that the years they have left are comfortable.

That’s because once you pass, your loved one will be able to claim survivor benefits based on what you’ve collected. Of course, there will be other things for him or her to consider, such as waiting for their full retirement age or not, but either way, it’ll be good to leave some extra cash for them for when you’ll no longer be around.
