While San Jose is close to San Francisco, it has its own separate metro area. Both of these factors have boosted median list prices by nearly $1 million. So settling down here won’t come cheap at all.
The increase in tech startup businesses has further boosted costs, so living on a budget will be an almost impossible task, no matter your approach. And relying on adult day healthcare or home health aides isn’t an option for most retirees either since prices for these services are the second-highest on our list.

I can tell you first hand,Don’t move to Calif!!! I lived in Calif most of my life and in a couple months am going to retire and get out of Calif..too expensive,everything is taxed and housing prices are terrible.
