7 Facts About How Corona Virus Really Affects Your Retirement Savings

March 25, 2020 · Saving & Spending

Recreation Spending Has Dropped

If there is one financial silver lining, it’s the fact that recreation spending has dropped. Social distancing implies staying away from individuals or groups of individuals during the pandemic. That means no more outings, no more heading out for lunch or dinners, movies and whatever else you can think of.

Sure, our social lives might take a hit, but thanks to the internet and phone and video calls, we can still stay connected to the people we love. But one upside to all this is that you’ll be spending less money overall.

In order to make this work, you have to also factor in spending less on food, meaning you should avoid ordering and pick up cooking instead. You could also use this as a valuable lesson on budgeting. If you’ve had trouble keeping spending habits at bay, use this to your advantage and get used to budgeting now.
