7 Facts About How Corona Virus Really Affects Your Retirement Savings

Medicare Will Now Pay for Telehealth Services

As reports have shown, seniors are more susceptible to adverse outcomes if they get infected with COVID-19. That’s why its important to limit outings in order to avoid coming in contact with as few people as possible since many of them could be carriers.

In order to reduce the need for visiting a hospital in these trying times, Medicare beneficiaries are now given the option to speak to healthcare professionals over the phone. The Telehealth services will put you in contact with licenced clinical social workers, nurse practitioners, doctors or clinical psychologists.

While many might think these remote ‘appointments’ couldn’t possibly cover their medical needs, rest assured that you will be able to receive preventive health screenings, mental health counselling, common office, management and evaluation visits, among others. You will also be able to fill prescriptions.

Beneficiaries will not be able to get diagnosed with the Coronavirus, but health care providers will offer quarantine and self-care tips and may also inform you if and when you should present yourself to the hospital.

All in all, keep in mind that this is meant to help avoid forming crowds in many already overpopulated hospitals. The person you will get in contact with will advise on a safe course of action for you to follow depending on your condition.

Medicare will cover telehealth services and Medicare Advantage plans may waive or reduce cost-sharing, though keep in mind there is still a possibility of copays or out-of-pocket charges.
