In conclusion

Something to also consider when looking for a center is we shouldn’t just be looking to avoid places that report beatings and sexual assault. Failing to meet every day needs can be considered abuse as well.

An example would be a case in a Maryland home where a patient who in her eighties needed to be given her medication daily, for various physical problems. She was left uncared for and as a result of not receiving her pills on time, ended up in the hospital for various problems, one of them being dehydration.

Be sure to always report any sort of abuse your loved one may go through. In the end this sends out an important message to any nursing homes that all these examples of horrible behavior will not be condoned and will hopefully encourage them to run their nursing homes better in the future.
