18 Surprisingly Affordable Retirement Destinations You’ve Never Considered Before

May 6, 2021 · Retirement Life

Camas, Washington

If the hot and humid weather is not your thing, you could always head to the Washington area, more specifically to Camas. This Pacific Northwest small town is the classic definition of a breathtaking wonderland where you could spend hours wrapped in the arms of nature.

Located near the Columbia River and Oregon-Washington border, Camas boasts a large but strong community, and plenty of places to build even stronger community relationships while enjoying good art, good food and culture. It’s a bit pricier than other towns in Washington state, with the median rent at $1,340.

Falmouth, Massachusetts

If you want to have your own Cape Code retreat, Falmouth is the place to choose. It is a relatively large town, surrounded by water on two sides, which only adds to its charm and beautiful scenery. With its own local hospital and plenty of amenities, Falmouth is a beautiful, friendly, and growing community. You could also contribute to that growth!

It is a perfect destination for retirees due to its multitude of services created for seniors, such as a city-sponsored senior center and benefits and support for living arrangements, but also numerous places to enjoy good food, extensive shopping sessions and have fun. The median rent is around $1,240 and many homes have water views over the ocean, bays, and inlets, increasing the town’s desirability.

Not Kahului, Hawaii!! Average home prices over 1 million. Surely you guys are not serious. Cost more than 30% to live there than anywhere else in US. Infrastructure can not handle the locals and tourist at the same time. Most beaches are crowded and traffic is the pits. Do your homework and spend some time there before you send seniors there.
