Your idea of ‘golden years’ might not reflect reality

After long years of hard work, a hectic schedule and lots of stress, you’re undoubtedly waiting for the day to leave the workforce and just enjoy tour newfound freedom. But before you get too excited, you should “be prepared for the fact it’s not going to be exactly how you thought it would be,” says David Schneider, a certified financial planner and founder of Schneider Wealth Strategies in New York City.

Why? Because no matter how prepared you think you are, there are many unexpected twists and turns that may catch you by surprise. To avoid being blindsided by retirement, here are 10 retirement myths you should stop believing.
