9. Philippines: English-Speaking and Extremely Affordable

The Philippines consists of over 7,000 islands, offering endless opportunities for beachside living. As a former US territory, the cultural ties run deep, and English is one of the two official languages. This removes the massive barrier of learning a new language in your sixties or seventies.

The Special Resident Retiree’s Visa (SRRV) is one of the most accommodating in the world, often requiring a deposit of just $10,000 and a modest monthly pension. Once approved, you gain indefinite leave to remain with multiple entry privileges. A monthly budget of $1,200 to $1,500 provides a comfortable life, particularly if you settle in provinces like Dumaguete or Cebu. Healthcare in major cities is reliable, with many doctors having trained in the United States.
