Take care of your needs first

In some situations, you just have to say no, even to your children, says Zaino, who is also a member of the National Ethics Association. It can be extremely difficult to put yourself first, especially if you’re part of the Sandwich Generation – middle-aged adults who are practically sandwiched between catering to the need of their aging parents and their 18 or older children. You might not see it that way at the moment, but teaching your children to be more independent, financially and otherwise, helps them develop better and stand on their own feet no matter the situation. Not to mention it will relieve some of your overwhelming burdens.

Use the AARP app

The AARP website and app can help you keep up to date with all the local activities and events, discounts and benefits available to AARP members. Remember, even if you become a member, you don’t have to buy any of their products, at least not before doing some price comparison. On the other hand, their prices are so low, it’s unlikely you’ll find better deals and benefits somewhere else.
