16. Review Your Beneficiaries
Major life changes can improve or derail your savings plans. No matter the effect they have, remember to always update your beneficiaries on your 401(k).
So, if you’re getting married, divorced, or having a child, now’s the time to update all of that information.
Another thing to keep in mind? Unless your spouse waives their legal right, they’ll automatically get the money. Consult your family and review your situation before making any decisions but don’t postpone them for longer than it is necessary.
