14. Foster a Pet
If you’re not quite ready to invite a furry friend permanently in your life, either because you’re unsure how you’ll fare and you don’t have the monetary resources for one, don’t worry. Instead of adopting a dog or a cat, why not try fostering?
When you go this route you don’t have to worry about costs since the shelter will more than likely pay for supplies, food, and medical care. It’s a great way to care for an animal before it gets picked up by an adoptive family without committing to a pet- though we know a lot of seniors who ended up adopting their foster friends in the end too!
