30 Electronics That Are Hiking up Your Electric Bill for No Reason

Hot Water Recirculation Pump

Having a hot water recirculation pump is great, but not so much when nobody is using it. Since they have an average wattage of 28-92 watts, you could be spending an additional $28 to $93 per year.

It’s time to turn it off when nobody is using it, especially at night… unless you frequently take hot showers or baths at night, we guess!

That glowing set-top box on the wooden shelf is a hidden energy vampire draining your monthly budget.

Set-Top Box

Do you use more than one set-top box in your home? Then it’s time to think of ways to unplug them when you’re not using them. These have an average wattage of 16 t 57 watts. The cost per year comes to $16 to $57.

If you have one in your guest bedroom, turn that off. It’s also a good idea to put your TV, speakers and set-box top in a power strip so you can easily turn them all off when you’re not using them, especially if you use them regularly. It’ll be easier to do this than plug and unplug all three all the time- it can get tedious very quickly.
