Can I afford to pay for it?

Credit cards can make us feel like this is a less and less relevant question, but we mustn’t rely on credit if we want to stay financially conscious. Living paycheck to paycheck should make you pause for a moment and think.

If you simply can’t afford it but need to buy this item, consider budgeting for a while before going back to the shopping cart. Cash reserves could also help, of course.
