When DIY Isn’t Enough

Managing a portfolio and navigating government benefits alone is possible, but the margin for error is razor-thin. Consider hiring a fiduciary advisor in these scenarios:

  • You are approaching age 65: Medicare enrollment rules are dense. An independent Medicare broker or financial planner can prevent lifelong penalties and help you navigate IRMAA thresholds.
  • You hold concentrated stock positions: If a large portion of your wealth is tied up in a single company stock, unwinding that position without triggering massive capital gains taxes requires professional strategies.
  • Your estate involves blended families or businesses: Standard wills are insufficient for complex family dynamics. Estate planning attorneys are essential for setting up trusts that protect your assets and ensure fair distribution to your heirs.
