Misspellings and grammar mistakes
This is an all-around general rule that applies to any kind of scam you might ever be in contact with, whether it’s via e-mail, telephone, or mail. The caller you answered to follows up with a bunch of e-mails that contain falsified letters or even reports that appear to be from the Social Security Administration or SSA’s OIG.
If that’s the case, please look closely. The letters you received might contain a type of “jargon” or letterhead that might seem official, in order to help convince the victims. In reality, they may contain a lot of misspellings and grammar mistakes, so watch out!
