Fueling the demand for flexibility
Some people might not want to end their careers, but they might prefer flexible working arrangements during retirement- as many as 94% of workers, to be more exact, according to a 2015 study by Center for a Secure Retirement.
That means that 14% would like job-sharing arrangements, 17% said they wanted compressed schedules, 20% wanted to look for remote work options and a whopping 56% wished for flexible working hours.
Finding a career with a purpose
Sadly, not enough people get to work in the fields they want, mainly due to financial restraints. That’s probably why more than 4.5 million people between 50 and 70 are now working in social impact careers.
Even more so, 21 million seniors that haven’t entered retirement yet want to switch from their regular jobs to jobs with a purpose.
It just goes to show that while working in order to create a comfortable nest egg is important, it’s just as important to do something that is near and dear to your heart!
What do you say, did this list give you a better idea of what your retirement will look like? Did it raise important questions about things you should be focusing on?
