Be Careful! 5 Dangerous Scams Targeting Retirees

Counterfeit prescription drug scams

We all know how expensive medicine can be, especially as we grow older. So it’s not surprising that many seniors would look for ways to reduce their medical bills in any possible way.

Particularly insidious scammers will use targeted ads in order to lure in their next victims. These ads will show prescription drugs at super low prices but in reality, you may get more than what you bargained for. Some of these drugs may not even have an active ingredient or worse they could have been contaminated. In other cases, counterfeit prescription drugs have been shown to have wrong dosages of active ingredients, all things that could be extremely harmful to your body.

You have to talk to your doctor or pharmacist about these concerns first. Check the product closely and make sure you never buy anything from unlicensed pharmacies. You can check this by looking for the Verified Internet Pharmacy Practice Site (VIPPS) seal.
