Be Careful! 5 Dangerous Scams Targeting Retirees

Instagram scams

The internet is a scary place filled with even scarier people. As much as we might like to keep in touch with our friends via e-mail and social media we have to keep our eyes peeled for any potential fraudsters.

Instagram scams don’t necessarily take place on Instagram but plenty of con artists use the popular social media in order to gather information about us. They’ll look at our photos and videos in order to figure out our interests and, as such, our weak points.

For example, they might find out what your hobby is and redirect you to a page in order to purchase materials. Then they could steal your bank information, just like that. Alternatively, if you like to travel they might try to attract you to low prices towards destinations you’ve proven you love with a few hashtags, pictures, and videos. Just like before, the moment you submit your credit card, they’ll steal it and you’ll be none the wiser.
