5 Pros & Cons for Claiming Social Security Early

April 7, 2020 · Retirement Life

Though you’ll be getting less money per month if you claim early, it’s important to know that in actuality you’ll be getting the same amount of money in total during retirement. But what happens if your health isn’t what it used to be? In that case, you might pass away earlier, which is why claiming early could be beneficial. After all, it’s money you’re entitled to and you should use it for as long as you have, not let it sit in an account until it’s too late.

In this case, claiming your benefits when you turn 62 is a no brainer, especially if the money could go towards out of pocket medical expenses.
