If you want to make your transition from a full-time job to a comfortable and pleasant retirement, then “ripping off the band-aid” is not always the best way to do it. Working 40 or more hours per week and then abruptly stopping altogether will only make things more confused. To ease your way into retirement, you could try various ways to gradually reduce your working hours and take more time off.
