Romantic money void

As embarrassing as it is, our last choice of financial abuse is targeting romantic posers. Because we live in the age of the internet, more and more people turn to online dating sites to escape loneliness at an older age.

This is where romance scammers tend to run their activity, elaborating profiles and a fake identity to steal the hearts of their victims. These scammers will show patience and resilience in their mission, tricking their online targets that love is real and is out there calling out for help.

They will ask for money to travel to their “loved” one and pay ghostly medical insurances for fake diseases. It has been shown that in 2019, seniors lost over $84 million over romance scams.
