16 Ways to Get Back on Track After Devastating Financial Mistakes

April 8, 2021 · Saving & Spending

Get Serious About Groceries

There are many things in life that are set in stone, you can’t change them. Car payments or interest, for example. But when it comes to grocery shopping, something we all spend quite a big chunk of our money on, there are ways to cut down that receipt.

Say you only like to buy organic food at Whole Foods. But did you know regular grocery stores also have organic food for a fraction of the price? Do you swear by a brand-name item? Well, have you tried the more affordable, no-name versions? Switch things up little by little and try to shop away from eye-level- companies pay big bucks for you to see them, from packaging to where they’re placed on the shelves. If you look up or down you’ll likely find new favorites that cost a lot less.

Do you enjoy eating lunch out because of work? Start to gradually take home-made meals with you at the office. Do this for one day of the weak and save $10 to $20 easily- $520 to $1040 a year. Sounds good, right? The more you avoid eating out, the more you’ll be able to save. Little by little, you’ll get the hang of it.

It may be more difficult to stop ordering dinner, though, especially if you’re tired after a long day at work. Focus on meals that are easy to cook and affordable- it may be time to invest in an Instant Pot. Focus on big batches you can take with you for lunch on the next day- rinse and repeat.

If you’re not a very good home chef, don’t worry. Nobody was born knowing how to cook. Follow simple recipes online before you start experimenting. There is a myriad of websites and YouTube channels that you can follow!
