If you haven’t been on an extended vacation since the Bush administration, haven’t paid a visit to the hairstylist in a long while or haven’t replaced your worn-out sofa since you first moved in your current house, the found money will definitely seem like a windfall. You can finally pay for the necessities that have been disregarded over the past years.

If you’ve postponed important home maintenance works like fixing the roof or the HVAC system, or your car’s obnoxiously loud engine, sue some of your new funds to make the necessary repair now and avoid much more costly repair bills in the coming years.
