6. Beneficiaries with dependents may get extra stimulus cash

You might already be aware that you don’t need to register with the IRS to get your stimulus money if you’re already receiving Social Security benefits via direct deposit. However, the same rules do not apply if you have dependents under the age of 17 in your household.

In that case, you are entitled to $500 per dependent, but you’ll have to register to receive the money.

A big mistake seniors make is to assume that these processes are automated together, leaving them short on cash when they and their dependents need it most. Make sure you take the necessary steps to receive the added $500!
