7 Facts About How Corona Virus Really Affects Your Retirement Savings

March 25, 2020 · Saving & Spending

Social Security Offices Are Closed

The Social Security Administration has done its part in making sure the virus doesn’t spread among the elderly by closing all Social Security offices. This decision went into effect on the 17th of March, 2020 with no word yet as to when they’ll reopen their doors.

But that doesn’t mean you can’t access any information you want. Your first stop should be the Social Security Administration website. Of course, there’s the option to call 1-800-772-1213, but due to the high volume of calls, you might have to wait for quite a while before you get any of your queries answered.

Appointments will be held over the phone as well, and payments will continue through either the postal service or direct deposit. Seniors who wish to enrol in disability, retirement or Medicare benefits can also do so online.
