Ask Tough Questions
Asking tough questions can be extremely uncomfortable, especially in the financial department. But you can’t be expected to make sound financial decisions without knowing where you and your loved ones stand.
You have to talk about long-term care. You have to talk to your children about higher education. You need to have discussions about the money you’re all willing to spend collectively in order to help each other out.
Think about it, if you think your finances are set and your son or daughter comes around out of the blue asking for financial help for their education, what are you going to do? Knowing what you can and can’t help with early on will solidify your retirement plans, so don’t be afraid to ask.
