A Lot of Talk About Cost-Cutting Measures

Nobody wants to hear about budget cutbacks! But they happen more often than we’d like to think. There may be various reasons behind these changes, yet more senior workers should consider this might be a tactic to get you to retire early.

If your employer keeps bringing up the costs of employee salaries and benefits to you, it could just be a subtle hint towards you in particular. You might think your employer wouldn’t do that, but it’s not unheard of.

In fact, the Napa Valley Unified School District did this exact thing. They encouraged more than 60 employees to retire early in order to save millions of dollars. So, this tactic is not unheard of, even though it might be tougher to spot.
