3. Get a Smaller Home

With the kids starting their own families, it simply makes sense to move to a smaller home. You probably, realistically, don’t need all those spare rooms anymore. Just think about how much you could cut your maintenance and utility bills.

But if you can’t quite give up your home, you could rent out unused rooms. Sure, it will cut into your privacy a little bit, depending on the route you choose, but it doesn’t have a permanent solution. It’s simply another way to gain a little money.
