When retirement thoughts start crossing your mind, don’t overlook small towns to the detriment of bigger cities. Apart from the peace, quiet and cozy vibe small towns usually provide, residents there are also more dedicated to forming tight-knit communities.

On top of that, small towns usually come with lower living costs than the ones you would normally find in bigger cities.

To determine the best retirement places in the United States, we reviewed each state and focused our analysis on health care facilities, as well as recreational options, above-average median incomes among older residents and other aspects that are essential to retirees.
