Author Valerie Rind says that many to-be retirees care more about other’s needs and wants than their own: “If you’re too busy taking financial care of other people, you might find yourself excluded from your own retirement plans,” says Rind. “For example, when you loan money to family members or borrow for your kids’ education, you’re tying up precious funds that could be invested toward your future.”
