14 Tips To Make The Most Of Your Social Security Check

Get a roommate

You’re not in college anymore but this doesn’t mean it’s not ok to share your house, and the associated living costs, with someone else.  A roommate or housemate can help you stretch your Social Security check way further than you’ve ever imagined, not to mention it will help you socialize and avoid feeling lonely.

According to a SmartAsset study, renters who shared a two-bedroom house with a roommate cut costs by more than $800 a month compared to those who have a one-bedroom all to themselves. If renting is not the case, your expenses on utilities, internet, cable and energy can still be reduced by splitting them with a roommate.
